a hypothetical

meet al. al is about to graduate. he needs this last class to fulfill his major requirements and get his diploma. unfortunately, after week six, al has a severe case of senioritus and refuses to attend the class anymore. he has already used his annual drop, but he wouldn't use it in this case anyway, since he needs these last two credits.

up until week seven, al's productivity and participation within the class has been average. he's gotten his work done on time, but abstains from going all overboard and extracurricular with the assignments.

now the big question: how would a professor grade a situation such as this? would he assume al just dropped the class and refuse to assign a grade (or, gasp, slap him with a 0.0), or would he grade whatever has been turned in?
