Subject:i thought i would give this a little more publicity, in case anyone is interested.
Time:9:47 am.
last quarter my biology professor (dr. alan trimble) told us about the UW student farm, which i didn't even know existed.
if anyone is interested in learning more about sustainable food production and planting some crops, here is some information about it:

"For the many of you who expressed interest in getting
involved in the campus student farm, our first "spring"
get-together will be THIS FRIDAY from Noon to 3PM in
the Greenhouse and nearby.

Bring your lunch!

If you can't make this date/time, I will be around the farm
at these times starting next week:

Mondays 12:30-2:30 (starting w/lunch)
Tuesdays 11:50-12:15 (lunch only)
Wednesdays 2:00-4:00
Thursdays 11:50-12:15 (lunch only)
Fridays 1:00 - 3:00

I look forward to seeing you there, and getting some early crops
planted!

-Alan"

i think it will be a lot of fun.

Subject:Art Major
Time:11:59 am.
I'm currently a Painting+Drawing major at the U, but I'm beginning to think that maybe a Photography major is more along the lines of what I really want/need to be doing. However, beside the basic 140 Photography class (which I've already taken), none of the other photo classes are realistically available to non-majors. Before I do something drastic and switch my major, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts or opinions on the UW Photography program. I get the feeling that there is a rather strong emphasis on digital vs. traditional/darkroom work, which I'm not sure I like. Also, how competitive is the major? I get conflicting answers everytime I ask this. Is the Photography program at the U even a strong program, or should I look elsewhere for photography experience and continue with my Painting+Drawing major?

Any thoughts/opinions/experiences are much appreciated. :)

Subject:card club!
Time:10:44 pm.
Hey all-

I'd like to start a weekly meeting on campus to play card games. Poker is fine, but I'm thinking non-gambling games, for the most part; canasta, bridge, spades, hearts, cribbage, gin, rummy, etc. Does 5 pm on wednesdays work for people? And, where would you like to meet? I'm thinking the HUB on the first floor, or maybe Mary Gates. Acting under extreme optimism, I went ahead and made a community for this called uw_cards. Check it out! Time/place are open to suggestions.
