It's really annoying when you leave class forgetting your umbrella, then remember and go back 5 minutes later to find that it is not there. I've noticed that a lot of people have been stealing lately so just wanted to say when you have things you like that you accidently leave and then are taken from you 5 minutes later that it's not nice!
I'm not writing this in any official capacity (read that as the company I work for did not tell me to do this, and if some how I offend you with this posting, it's my fault and *not* the company's)...anyways. Looking for a job? The Matt's Gourmet Hot Dogs locations in the University District (Brooklyn and 45th) and in Ballard (24ish and Market) are both looking to hire as soon as possible. You'd be working mostly nights. You start at $7.35 and have the opportunity to make $8.00 an hour after three months provided you know your ass from a hole in the ground. You have to drop off a resume- yes, an actual resume and no, an email address is not sufficient contact information (I was asked that yeseterday, believe it or not~ the guy wanted to just leave his email address in lieu of a resume, actually). We're only taking resumes because we handed out maybe 1000 paper applications since last March and received perhaps 50 of them back, and the cost is not worth it. The job? You will clean things and make hot dogs. When people aren't feeling like their stingy selves you'll even make some tips. You'll have to deal with the Ave bums but try to do it politely. We get rushed but it's nothing one person can't handle by him or her self if competent. The other people working there are awesome and great to be around, and you'll be trained up in no time at all. The U District is looking for one more person and Ballard is looking for two.
Oh- food handler's permit. It's illegal to work without one, so if you don't have one, you need to get one.
EDIT Minimum wage went up, so you'll start at $7.63/hr, not $7.35
I've encountered a rather troubling problem on the MGH computers (hooray, more problems!). I'll be listening to an MP3 and suddenly there will be some sort of burst of static-like sounds, and everything will freeze. I mean everything--mouse frozen in place, clicking does nothing, even Control-Alt-Delete does nothing. All I can do is turn the computer off and turn it on again. It only happened twice, so I'm not sure what I'm doing to cause it (if I'm doing anything at all). I don't know if playing audio is at all connected, but that's what I was doing each time--the music got interrupted by the static bursts and eventually overwhelmed by it. (And no, it wasn't the same MP3 file each time.) Internet Explorer was also open each time (please don't hate me) and those are really the only common elements I can think of. Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone have any idea what causes it? I've been fortunate enough for it not to happen while I was in the middle of, say, some unsaved work, but I'd rather not just wait around until that does happen. Although apparently when the computer gets unexpectedly shut down like that, anything on the desktop will still be there if you log back in. So I suppose that's something. Still, any ideas?
