kite does not play well with evil

I'm making a pointless post to complain about HFS because I'm really annoyed. My room assignment for this year has been a neverending nightmare.

Although my roommate and I requested each other from the start and both applied ASAP, it took them a while to actually let us room together, and different people kept saying different things about why we could or couldn't. That's a different story, though. It ultimately worked out -- we both got emails saying that although they had originally said we couldn't room together, they decided that we could, and were assigned to the room picked at CYA.

A couple weeks ago I got my room assignment letter, and it was fine. It had the room I signed up for at CYA, and my roommate's name was right and everything. But she wasn't getting her letter -- she said that they'd emailed her saying they didn't have her address, but when she went to the address change form it was there and correct.

Well, she finally just got her letter -- and it says she doesn't have a room assignment, even though HFS had previously stated that she did have one, and even the specific room. She even already paid the bill!

Ugh. We're going to try to get this mess sorted out with them ASAP, but it's just annoying. Has this happened to anyone else?

crafts stores/fake flowers

Does anyone know of a good crafts store with a nice selection of faux flowers in or around the u-district? Like Michaels, only the closest Michaels is in Kirkland and I'd rather just walk someplace.

EDIT: And MARBLES. Does anyone know where I can get MARBLES???

library access

Is it possible to get a free library card at the Seattle Public Library if you're an out-of-state student? I checked out their website but it was unclear. I read that you have to pay if you live or go to school outside of Seattle, and you don't if you live in Seattle... but what if you live there nine months out of the year?

Anyone had experience with this? I don't know if I can go a school year without use of a public library. And paying for library access seems to be to defeat the point of a public library.

(no subject)

I am a high school senior at a local WA high school doing the IB diploma program and hoping to get into UW when I apply this fall.

I was wondering what the general opinion was on the honors program at UW. I've been doing challenge/honors/IB my whole school career and right now I'm TIRED of challenging myself but I don't want to be bored. So, what's UW's honors program like? Is it really different than regular classes? What's the difference? Any opinions would be great, thanks.
