Welcome back!

Welcome to another wonderful (or soul-sucking, if you prefer) quarter at the UW! To celebrate/mourn, a group of us are getting together for lunch at 12:30 at the flagpole near Kane. Won't you join us?

Anyone taking SOC 401? Want my books?

I took SOC 401 last quarter and want to sell my books. It's taught by Jennifer Edwards pretty much every quarter. I'd go to tomorrow's class to ask if anyone wants them, but I have a class at that time.

1. Exploring Socio Cultural Themes in Education
2. Savage Inequalities by Kozol.

I'll sell them for $25 or 30.

Anyways, contact me at

So, I guess I'm considering majoring in Spanish. I like it, and I'm good at it. But, what the hell do you do with it? I don't want to be a teacher. Any foreign language majors have a suggestion?

i have recently been admitted to UW and i am really excited to come here!
however, i'm from hawaii and i'm terribly scared of the drastic change i'm going to encounter when i move to seattle.
hawaii is basically always sunny and we all wear breezy clothes,
but i know when i go to seattle, these clothes are not going to make the cut and maybe even my own lifestyle!

so, i was hoping to get some tips on what i should buy/do before i make my life changing move to UW!
thank you <3

Japanese Placement Test

I am going to the UW next year and I am wondering if anyone here has taken the Japanese Placement Test. If anyone here has I would like to know what it will be like: what sections it is divided in to, what knowledge areas are tested, if there is a listening section, how hard it is, etc. Anything you can tell me about it will be greatly appreciated, the more detailed, the better.
