Free Wireless in the UDistrict (finally)

The University District, previously a place void of any good and free wireless hotspots, finally has one. Chaco Canyon Cafe just opened beneath Cedars on Brooklyn. It's across the street from Safeway, and right next door to the Flying Apron Bakery (they make great organic vegan treats). They serve juice, coffee and maybe soup (I can't remember for sure). The juice was good, I haven't tried their coffee yet though.

Dorm Roommates

Anybody else hear about this? UW is apparently changing the way they decide roommates:

"The college plans to play matchmaker to thousands of students applying for university housing during the 2004 school year by offering an online service allowing them to pick and choose roomies."

"A school mandates how many and what kind of questions are asked, Harrison said, but students generally can post their profiles detailing personality traits, quirks, work habits, music and food preferences, and what their expectations are in a roommate relationship.

Then they can search for others with similar qualities and potential matches can e-mail each other, set up a meeting and book their rooms online.
