Grad School...

So I'm currently a senior at the University of Michigan and have been accepted to UW's School of Public Health (Exposure Science in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences). I visited a couple weeks ago for an interview and got really good vibes from the program. The faculty I met with were really friendly and the grad students were all very helpful and answered a lot of my questions. So basically I'm sold on the program (and the location) but have a lingering question...

In your opinion, how easy is it to meet new people at UW (especially in graduate programs) as an out-of-state student who will essentially be starting over? I don't know anyone in Seattle and my family still lives in Michigan. I definately want to put in the effort to start a new social network, but I'd like to know your experiences. Because the program I'm entering is so small, I assume it should be easy, but want your feedback. I'm curious about the "culture" of graduate students at the school. I'm into live music and such, but not really being a drinker, I'm not into the bar/club scene. I know that there are a ton of things to do in Seattle and was wondering the most common ways to meet/hang with people.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I appreciate all of your opinions. Thanks!
