The DAWGs program is a group of volunteers that help with the move in process for residents. Each year a group of 300 volunteers and coordinators devote time and energy to making move in day as smooth as possible. The benefits of being a DAWGs Crew member are many. This is a great way to meet new people, have good time with your friends, and help other residents during a chaotic time. In addition to these perks, DAWGs Crew Members move in early at no cost and receive a DAWGs t-shirt. This enables you to get settled and avoid move-in day lines and traffic.
DAWGs volunteers activities include helping residents unload vehicles and load carts, answer questions all while interacting with students and their families. For many of the students, the DAWGs Crew Members are the first UW face they see.
Being a Coordinator of a DAWGs Crew carries more responsibilities but is also a very rewarding experience. Coordinators work together to establish shifts for their volunteers, make sure the volunteers are at the assigned locations at the right times, and work with the director to facilitate activities throughout campus. Coordinators lead their group of volunteers while move-in is happening and ensure that move-in activities at their hall are going smoothly.
